VMware vSphere
is a comprehensive virtualization platform that transforms data centers into
aggregated computing infrastructures, integrating CPU, storage, and networking
resources. It manages these infrastructures as a unified operating environment
and provides tools for administering data centers
The two core
components of vSphere are:
ESXi: The
virtualization platform where you create and run virtual machines and virtual
appliances.
vCenter
Server: The service through which you manage multiple hosts connected in a
network and pool host resources
vSphere offers
features like vMotion for live migration of virtual machines, vSphere
Distributed Services Engine for offloading infrastructure functions to a data
processing unit (DPU), and vSphere Lifecycle Manager for centralized lifecycle
management of ESXi host
