How to setup 2 Mikrotik routers on 1 Network ( Master - Backup )

 

VRRS is used for combines multiple routers into a logical group called a Virtual Router, There are Master and Backup Routers.

  • This environment I show how to configure VRRP Services 
  • You need understand basic configure MikroTik
  • Make sure MikroTik access to Internet
On Master Router
  • Cofigure Router access to Internet 
  • Configure LAN (just set ip address do not anything) Ex: 10.10.10.1/24
  • Configure VRRP
    • Set Virtual Gateway VRRP
    • Set DHCP Server
1.Configure LAN: I userd Ether3 as LAN
  • Rename Ehternet3: Go to Interfaaces ehter3-LAN

  • Set IP Address: Go to IP > Address > "+" Button > add ip address > OK

  • Configure VRRP: Go to Interface > VRRP > "+" Button > 
  • Set name VRRP: ex: vrrp1
  • Go to VRRP tap: Select your Interface 
  • Set VRID:  Set your VRRP ID
  • Priority: Set 100 make is Master


  • Set Virtual Gatway VRRP: Go to IP > Address > "+" button > fill out your IP address > Ok

  • Set DHCP Server on Interface VRRP: Go to IP > DHCP Server > DHCP Setup 
  • Follow Step op DHCP Setup

On Master Done 

On Backup  Router 

  • Cofigure Router access to Internet 
  • Configure LAN (just set ip address do not anything) Ex: 10.10.10.2/24
  • Configure VRRP
    • Set Virtual Gateway VRRP
    • Set DHCP Server

  • Configure VRRP: Go to Interface > VRRP > "+" Button >

  • Set VRID:  Set your VRRP ID
  • Priority: Set 50 make is Master

  • Set Virtual Gatway VRRP: Go to IP > Address > "+" button > fill out your IP address > Ok

  • Set DHCP Server on Interface VRRP: Go to IP > DHCP Server > DHCP Setup 
  • Follow Step op DHCP Setup
